Spud Guard® 2 EC 

 

Spud Guard® 2 EC is an emulsified CIPC spray that prepares potatoes for shipment. The solution in injected right into the cold water flow of the pre-pack wash. Spud Guard® 2 EC's proprietary cold water formula contains a surfactant that enables the active ingredients to disperse uniformly over the surface of the potato.

The cold water formula is designed to mix quickly with cold water for immediate use.  PINNIP’s proprietary formula contains a surfactant that enables the chemical to disperse more evenly around the surface of the potato.  Better coverage results in better absorption and residue levels.  The end result is more effective sprout control using less chemical.

  • Chemical Name: Chlorpropham (Isopropyl N-[3-chlorophenyl] carbamate.)
  • Available in 5 gallon pails or 30 gallon drums.
  • One gallon of Spud Guard® will treat up to 2,000 CWT of potatoes.

Application

Spud Guard® 2 EC is usually applied as a 1% emulsion spray on the drying table, or similar station, after the potatoes have been washed. Automatic proportioners or injection systems that apply an equivalent rate of active ingredient may be used. Equipment should be set to spray evenly across the rollers moving the potatoes. Rolling or tumbling action improves coverage compared to flat conveyor belts.
